Jean Shop moved its store from the Meatpacking District to SoHo.

The specialty jean designer and retailer has signed a long-term lease at 37 Crosby St. after many years at 435 W. 14th St. in the Meatpacking District, said Gregory Tannor, a director at Cushman & Wakefield Inc.

With 1,400 square feet, the new location also serves as a showroom and houses the store's wholesale operation.

Jean Shop co-owner Eric Goldstein said the store's rent had tripled over the past decade.

Some other retailers whose rents increased left the Meatpacking District and foot traffic in the neighborhood had slowed, Mr. Goldstein said.

"It was time to find a new location," Mr. Goldstein said.

Crosby Street is a locale known for men's shopping with several "cool boutique brands," he said.
